One Day by: David Nicholls
immediate thoughts... DAMN this book was depressing as f&*K. i mean just being honest. no one said this has to be a proper review.. and i mean, hello, it is me writing it.
so anywho - alex found a trailer for the movie titled "one day" - come to find out, its a book! so of course the two of us know we must read the book before the movie (usually the book is better anyways). so alex purchases said book, reads... she is not impressed. i figured i have to give it a shot still ... sometimes we have different tastes.
so post immediate thoughts... i still think it was depressing, though it was thought provoking. here are some lingering thoughts i have:
- the beginning (well basically the first half-ish) is kinda slow. i was looking for a romancey kinda read... not so much
- then it gets juicy, some cheating, some excessive drug use with a sprinkle of an underlying romance that has been coming for quite some time
- then it comes and life is great... and then
- BAMMMMMMMMMMM the author hits you.. and hits you hard (no i will not give it away unless you ask me personally)
- and then the next 46 pages are about as depressing as possible... i cried... i'm okay with admitting that
so.. i guess the book was good, because it provoked me in some way... pulled at my heart strings, made me shed a few tears (actually quite a few, pathetic i know!) - it wasn't my quickest read (started it on july 1.. its not july 10.... that is SLOW for me, esp on vacay!) but in the end it made me think.
the movie should be interesting.... because it is far from a conventional love story. i have a pretty solid feeling it will come off different in the movies, perhaps a little more romanticized, but i think i'll be okay with that. enjoy the trailer below - be on the look out for a movie review once is has premiered (note: cried when i watch the trailer... god i'm a sap!):
until then.. peace, love 'n a few good tears!!

Ok I am still pissed about this book. The trailer looks sooo good, and the book sucked! I will just go back to rereading harry potter book seven for the third time until the movie comes out.
