Hangout Fest Day 4: Senior Citizen Status

boy oh boy... was i in some pain on day 4!! megan's statement that hangout prematurely ages you is completely correct. tip of the post: if you have the option to stand on two different surfaces only stand on ONE at a time, not one foot on one and your other foot on the other - this will cause major pain - trust me on this. one foot in the sand and another on the metal barrier leads to an uncomfortable next day.

so anyways - since we were all pretty tired we decided taking it easy was the best bet for the last day of the fest. so first stop of the day was the boom boom room... where we found, wait for it wait for it, AIR CONDITIONING!! and what a beautiful thing it was. not only was there ac in the boom boom room - the sweetwater tent was RIGHT outside [love me some sweetwater blue] - so although i was struggling a little these perks were quite nice. we started the day with a little jonathan tyler & the northern lights - good sounds to start the day.

next up was the musical pick of the day - old crow medicine show! if you don't love the song wagon wheel you really have no soul. during this show i learned OCMS are complete alabama fans, auburn not so much. great times in the boom boom room!

next up was food because we barely ate at all the next day. i have to say there was pretty great selection of food options and it was pretty reasonable priced. so post stuffing face we headed to a shaded area to recoup a little bit while listening to some matisyahu. after the food coma subsided we decided potentially loosing our lunch would be a pretty great idea. off to the MEGADROP!! you know that fair ride that sends you up SUPER high and then drops you super fast. it was a blast - i screamed like a little girl.

our next musical selection was briana v's choice, amos lee! we headed over, got a great location nice and close - laid down the sheet and then... megan and i laid down -- to take a nap. amos lee has quite a delightful lullaby voice that really provided a great napping sounds. i did enjoy some of his show, awake - another great hangout performer!!

the wonderful sounds of amos lee - no gonna lie, hes pretty sexy

finally some relaxing :) peep the sheet, its legendary

after our refreshing nap we headed back to the boom boom room for some girl talk. the tent was PACKED!! the show was lots of fun even though we were basically outside of tent. the vibe was great and lots of dancing to be had. can't really go wrong with classic mash ups.

girl talk amazingness

next on the musical schedule was the black keys. i hit up the sheet for this one as well (i think i was still completely physically and emotionally drained from the prior day). we were kinda far away and could barely hear - but if that was the only time it happened all weekend then i'm okay with that.

somehow we rallied enough energy to head over to the hangout stage where paul simon would be playing. we dug ourselves a fun sand sofa and enjoyed the sounds from afar. we departed hangout early to beat the crowds leaving after the paul simon set.

paul simon set - hes up there, just kinda far away!

relaxing in our sand sofa!

though the fest was over (super sad face) we at least had day 5 to enjoy the beach and recap the epicness that was HMF2011.

stay tuned for some final thoughts... peace, love 'n festi-fun!!
