let say i'm pretty pumped about a new year. i think lots of people get excited for new beginning, i am no different. this past year was kinda meh - some good some bad but i was in a kinda funk of a mood that i am just not down with. so in 2012 i'm going to put on brianna's big girl happy pants and grab life and take it for all its worth (sounds a little dirty but thats fine).
november and december are always whirl wind months that go by in a blink. traveling, visiting and holiday prep take over and before you know it you've gained 10 pounds, saw family and friends you didn't know you even wanted to see again and the new year is smacking you in the face. but, i love the hustle and bustle of the holidays so i'll take it.
lots has gone down in the past few weeks or so. mom came down to visit the big TN. having her here for thanksgiving was AWESOME. we did lots of fun shopping and enjoy some mother/daughter bonding time including black friday shopping (i mean though it was really thursday night), decorating the apt for the holiday, buying my AWESOME christmas present of a new tv (now if i have guys over for a date i won't be embarrassed of my technology!) and of course a spa day. i always wish we didn't live so far away -- but the distance makes those visits so much better!
a few days after mom's visit i headed to STL for the AFA AM (that is acronym for St. Louis for the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors Annual Meeting). while there i got to spend LOTS of time with one of my favorites, ms jermisha dodson! we even got to go back in time to grad school and share a bed (exciting for sure!) lots of great adventures in STL including wondering around aimlessly to find mcdonalds to find J sweet tea, piano bar and the our time in the casino! this AM was also important because our old boss was being sworn in as the president of the association. pretty important stuff!so we put together a fun gift basket for her, along with "made by shelly brown dobek" buttons with her face on them and SBD stickers for nametag flair. all in all it was a great trip.
when i finally got back to the office i have the joys of finishing up a few things and then off to maine for the christmas holiday! i leave next wed the 21st and couldn't be more excited - a week and a half of RELAXATION!!! plus seeing the fam and friends is always delightful.
on that note i should actually do some work today (way overrated).
peace, love 'n the home alone christmas cd that has been playing non stop in my apt (haven't heard it - its a must, quality christmas music!!)
