oh hey june

so i have all these hangout fest posts.. saved and ready for me to add pics to, but clearly i had an epic fail and totally forgot to finish all that jazz, but its a rainy weekend here in lovely clarksville, tn so i'll have plenty of time to finish that up.

so a few inspirations for the post today: mr. bodie james, the weeks baking craze, a new addiction and fun fridays.

lets start with the fun fridays. so i'm pretty simple girl and easily entertained. a beer, a bar and some good conversation is all i need to be pretty satisfied. so last night headed out to a local waterhole for a beer (vanilla cream, YUM brewed locally from the blackhorse brewery) and some conversation. i had the pleasure of meeting up with a few friends (matt and david) to be completely entertained by their antics. i even got dragged (this would not have been my choice in drinking location) to the gilroy (read: complete collegey meet army guy bar). not my ideal location because many of my students frequent the location. as apprehensive as i was i sucked it up and went. lucky for me my students had all departed the area for the evening and we were completely entertained by clarksville's finest. quality evening if i do say so myself.

onto the new addiction. ready? extreme couponing! okay i'm not talking stalk pile (i surely don't have ANY space for that) but more like, lets see what i can get at the lowest possible price. since i moved into the new apt the budget is tight so i'm attempting to be more responsible with my cash flow (yes finally at almost 27 years old i will ACTUALLY be fiscally responsible, haha i'm not that bad, promise). needless to say i'm pretty excited for the sunday paper, just for the coupons and circulars of course -- i'll keep ya updated on extreme deals i get.

enter baking craze! so last weekend i got an email from the local humane society that they would be hosting "dog daze" at the local downtown market. in the email they requested volunteers to bake homemade dog treats to sell at the event to help raise money for their many programs. i jumped at this volunteer opportunity, finally one that i could get really into. if you know me then this isnt a surprise, i've been baking homemade specialties for the the pup pretty much since i adopted him - and i'd like to think i'm actually pretty good at it! for those who don't know me, think of it this way before you think i'm crazy. i really enjoy baking, but my hips don't appreciate the items that baking leaves around the house - so i still get to enjoy my baking hobby but without the increased weight gain. plus i enjoy bringing extras to the local shelter and to my co-workers furry friends. so anyways, baked up a storm this week and created some delish-doggy items: banana apple muffins, peanutbutter cinnaberry biscuits and bananutter biscuits - some with some carob drizzle (carob is pup safe chocolate alternative). i packed them up in some simple, fun packaging and headed to the humane society to drop them off. everyone was so kind and so thankful - gave me the warm and fuzzies! unfortunately, the market got rained out so i didn't have the opportunity to see my treats being sold this morning. i'm disappointed because how cool would it have been to see people buying something i made, but i'm sure the treats will go to pups who will enjoy them, hopefully the local animal shelter where i got bodie!

speaking of bodie - i really LOVE that little guy!! on this rainy saturday i just felt the need to express my immense gratitude for having the opportunity to have him in my life. he is a COMPLETE lunatic but i love him just the same. he drives he crazy and brings me hours of entertainment. what else is better then a furry four legged friend that loves you unconditionally even when you look like a bum - nothing really. so this rainy saturday is my ode to my little pup bodie james!!

good morning friends!

enjoying the porch - thanks nanna for the great outdoor bed!
